Global Advocacy Committee
In 2022, PCR formed the Global Advocacy Committee, made up of feminist leaders who work alongside our team to promote our mission as well as provide support with planning and fundraising to foster PCR’s growth and deepen the impact that PCR brings to communities. We thank them for their efforts and contributions towards PCR, and aim to continue growing this group!
Julia Bürgi, Social Impact Consultant
Julia is a Zürich-based social impact consultant focused on communications and strategy. Through her work, Julia offers a design-centric lens, leveraging her academic background in design and years of impact-centered work experience across the globe. From 2017 to 2019, Julia worked in Kigali, Rwanda, where she came across Paper Crown's incredible work and, in 2022, joined the organization's Global Advocacy Committee.
Hanna Chidwick, PhD Student, Global Health
Hanna is a Global Health PhD student and Wilson Leader at McMaster University in Canada. Her research explores an imagined future for global health policy, research, and practice through an example of adolescent sexual and reproductive health in East Africa. Prior to her PhD, Hanna’s work was focused in Tanzania, as Pathy Foundation Fellow and Research Coordinator, exploring access to chronic disease care among older adults. In Canada, Hanna has worked with the Coady International Institute, Grand Challenges Canada and Queen’s University. Hanna is passionate about creating respectful, informed, critically reflective, and practical ways to engage in global health in Canada and abroad. She also enjoys hiking, canoeing, and all things feminist leadership.
Kirsten Siebach, PhD Student, Global Health
Kirsten is currently a PhD student in Global Health at Johns Hopkins in the Social and Behavioural Interventions program. Her research interests include the development and implementation of equitable mental health interventions and the social determinants of mental health. Prior to starting her PhD, Kirsten worked in intervention research in Rwanda and at the MIT Sloan School of Management. When not studying, Kirsten loves to be outside hiking, running, or playing sports. She is excited to be part of the Global Advocacy Committee and support the critical work of Paper Crown Rwanda.
Iris Gomm, Clinical Planner, Improving Healthcare Facilities
Iris is a fundraiser at Global Advocacy Committee and has previously worked as an architectural designer with a non-profit architecture firm in Rwanda, where they designed and coordinated the construction of a learning and sports center in a rural community.
Iris has a background in Interior Architecture and Architecture and while studying in Europe, Iris spent time abroad in Spain and California. They are passionate about building environmentally conscious spaces that empower and positively impact their communities.
Currently Iris is living in Toronto, where they work as a clinical planner and focus on improving Healthcare facilities within the city. Outside of work, Iris enjoys woodworking projects and is part of many sports leagues and and active member of the queer community in Toronto.
Lisanne Comeau, Strategic Advisor
Lisanne is a feminist advocate for girls’, women’s, gender expansive, and disabled folks’ rights globally, and has seven years of work experience addressing these barriers in the nonprofit industry. Doing high impact community work is a core part of her identity and she brings to the table extensive skills in strategic planning, fundraising, program design and development and management.
Within Paper Crown, Lisanne works with the team to think through their strategy, as well as help to organize projects, programming, and capacity development opportunities, and is an integral part of the GAC. She also manages the day-to-day communications and fundraising responsibilities, including PCR’s external outreach channels.
Lisanne is a proud member of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and holds a masters degree in Global Health with a focus on implementing innovations on a global scale.
